Barbeque Nation has been the pioneers in introducing the popular format of table grills and large buffets in India. For more than a decade, their outlets in major cities all over the country have been favourites of the food lovers for the extensive spreads they serve.
To provide their customers with a change of taste from the usual offerings from time to time, the restaurant chain organizes various promotions and festivals. Currently, as part of year-end festivities, they are hosting
Eurotrip, a European Food Festival with a special contest giving a chance for the customers to be selected for an all-paid trip to Europe. The décor of the restaurant has also been modified to provide a suitable ambience.
Invited for a review of the festival, I noticed that the whole menu has been revamped with European specialities, though some choices are left for lovers of Indian food. Among the skewers served on the table grill, the taste of many was refreshingly different from the usual fare that we are accustomed to.
Burnt Garlic Grilled Vegetables was a case in point. The marination has totally changed with a distinct flavour of garlic. The
Jalapeno Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms were the pick of the grills, bursting with distinct cheesy flavours.

Portuguese Piri Piri Drumsticks |
Mango Mint Paneer was delicious by itself, though I would have loved a little tangier mango flavour in it. The grilled pineapple dish
Honey Chilli BBQ Pineapple was quite different from the usual chaat masala based pineapple preparation that you usually find in barbeque outlets.
|
Chicken Tikka Lasagna |
The non-vegetarian starters did also stand out.
BBQ Rosemary Chicken, with its herb-flavoured boneless pieces, was my personal favourite.
Portuguese Piri Piri Drumsticks was perfect for the Hyderabadi palate, you can customize the amount of chillies for your preparation.
Dil Lemon Fish needed to be a bit more lemony. The
Spanish Romesco Prawns were good too, infused with a bit of pepper.
|
Grilled Polenta |
To go with the starters, there were a collection of dips served on the table - the
Spicy Peanut Dip especially impressed. We were served
Seafood Bisque on the table – while it was replete with prawns and fish, it was slightly too dilute for my liking.

Pasta with Corn in Alfredo Sauce |
There were quite a few live counters – the
Pasta Counter had a choice of Alfredo and Arrabiata sauces. The
Kulfi Counter was the most in-demand – we tried out the
Paan Kulfi and
Choco Kulfi. There was a
Hotdog Counter also. The
Salad Counter had about ten varieties, from
Roasted Red Pepper Hummus to other Mediterranean salads.

The main courses had quite a decent spread. We had overgorged on the starters and were not in a position to try most of them. Of the ones, we tried
Parmigiana Melanzane which had baked eggplant slices in cheese was definitely worthwhile with its balanced taste.
Grilled Polenta with Cherry Tomato and Mushroom Ragout was another one which impressed. But my favourite among the main courses was a fusion dish –
Chicken Tikka Lasagna, a perfect combination of a cheesy and spicy dish.

Paan Kulfi |
Keeping in mind the fact that many customers prefer Indian food, a sizeable number of Indian dishes are retained in the menu.
Gosht Masala Seekh, Shammi Kabab, Alu Gobi Mutter, Murgh Kolhapuri and
Handi Gosht are some of these. And finally, the Hyderabadi biryani lovers can enjoy the vegetarian as well as chicken versions.
|
Praline Gateau |
Apart from the kulfis, the dessert section had quite a good spread of delectable dishes –
Blueberry Pie, Plum Cake, Choco Swiss Roll and
Cheese Brownies to mention a few.
Gajar Ka Halwa and
Phirni were among the Indian desserts.
The promotion is running a contest where the winners will be taken on an all-paid tour to Europe. Every customer is given a voucher to fill for the lucky dip.

The European promotion is running in branches of Barbeque Nation all over India, until the first week of January. The promotion in Hyderabad ends on 1st January. Pricing is different on different days, as is the custom at Barbeque Nation. The flavours at this festival are quite different to what you find in the usual barbeque places and should provide a welcome change for the regular customers.
Locations in Hyderabad:
Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills and Gachibowli
